1. Test your smoke alarm monthly and have a properly installed and
well maintained smoke alarm on each level of your home.
2. Smoke Alarms should have their batteries changed every six
months and be replaced every ten years.
3. Ensure that your civic number is visible from the end of
your driveway to allow emergency vehicles to find you during an
emergency.
4. Never leave cooking unattended and turn pot handles inward
so they can’t be bumped or pulled over.
5. Design and practice escape drills in the home, using two
ways to get out and have a meeting place outside.
6. Never store propane cylinders (BBQ) indoors in any
structure. Store the cylinders upright outdoors in a well ventilated
space.
7. Have your chimney inspected by a professional once a year,
and cleaned if necessary. Use only dry seasoned wood in fireplaces
and woodstoves.
8. Don’t overload your electrical circuits and keep matches
and lighters stored in a safe place away from children. |
